Email and LinkedIn ads for MBA@UNC to promote a LinkedIn live webinar panel discussion.

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill is a big 2U client among our school partners, and I was lucky to get my hands on a bunch of their projects in early 2022 while covering for a co-worker on maternity leave. One of my ongoing goals as a junior designer on the Creative Marketing Team was to build relationships with team members and learn from them, and I always found opportunities to contribute to projects not normally under my assignment to be the most effective way to get to know people I didn’t often get to collaborate with.

Email Assets

Past LinkedIn live event promotional material from Harvard were linked in the brief as a reference, which gave a more holistic context to this project. Although email assets were requested first, I approached these designs with consideration of later static ad pieces, hoping to build those designs off of what I develop here.

I'd seen past UNC paid social ads with the circular-frame design, so I thought I'd bring some of that back here. Taking inspiration from previous event examples, I wanted to create contrasting light/dark designs. During reviews, someone brought up the point that by using distinct-looking ads, we can also ensure there is absolutely no way recipients in overlapping pools will mistaken our pieces as accidental repeats and cast us aside for sloppy marketing.

LISP Ads

I wanted to keep design concepts synchronized to the email hero designs for this event. The first design is relatively similar to what I made for ‘email hero 1’. With less overlay text on the ‘email hero 2’ design (leaving lots of awkward negative space), I added a dark gradient as well as some lighting/drop shadow embellishments around Arv’s photo to make the overall visual more dynamic.

We suggested the first design for the “Prospecting” audience and the second for “CRM/Lead Nurture”, as the latter reflects a more generic webinar aesthetic.
